About Harley V Rod company
The powerful racing motor cycle was developed by the Harley Davidson Company in USA to primarily meet the completion of the then popular Japanese motor cycles. Motor cycle racing enthusiasts in USA in the late 20th century mainly looked forward to choose from a range of Japanese racing motor cycles available in the US. To compete with the Japanese models Harley Davidson initiated a project to manufacture a unique Motor cycle. The result was that the first model of the Harley v rod brand of racing motor cycle was introduced in 2001. To develop this premium racing motor cycle Harley collaborated with the well known European motor car manufacturer Porsche. The combined efforts saw the development of a very powerful Motor cycle engine specially fitted on the new motor cycle.
The first model of the new racing motor cycle introduced in the US in 2001 was appropriately named as Harley v rod. This motor cycle immediately caught the fancy of the American Motor cycle racing enthusiasts and was sold out.
To gain a head start over the then Japanese competition, Harley had to make several innovations in Harley v rod motor cycle. For the first time the powerful motor cycle made use of fuel injection system. New overhead cams and a new liquid cooling system with a radiator were introduced into the new model bike. The twin engines were also assembled at a special angle of 60 degrees to give a special look to the machine. The fuel tank of Harley v rod was kept under the seat, and the frame assembly had also to be modified to give a look denoting speed. The motor cycle was powered by a twin engine with 1130 cc capacity to generate a peak 115 HP power output.
Harley introduced a new range of motor cycles in 2001 named Harley Davidson V R S C (abbreviation for V -Twin Racing Street Custom) models, and the first introduction in this range was the V – Rod. The company continued to make improvement and at later dates introduced many more models in this range of racing motor bikes.
Different models of Harley V Rod
In the year 2007 the company introduced a modified version of the popular cruiser motor cycle and named the models as VRSCAW-V –Rod. The main change was to increase the engine capacity to 1250 cc to generate 123 H P at 7000 rpm.
Other models introduced later on include V R S C D night Rod, V R S C D Night Rod Special, the V R S C E Screaming Eagle, the V R S C R Street Rod, and lastly in the year 2009 the model V R S C F V –Rod Muscle was introduced to the US market.
The models of Harley v rod are high priced racing cycles and only the higher income group kids were able to buy these motor cycles. They were mostly a prestige symbols. Many celebrities were eager to possess a Harley Davidson motor cycle.
The Harley Davidson motor cycles including the Harley v rod are mainly used for cruising on the high ways at high speeds.
Harley Davidson was started many years ago and went through periods of recession and peak performance. During the world war two the US military authorities encouraged Harley Davidson to supply the army with Motor cycles for military use.
